Write Buddy is a Chrome extension that helps you rewrite text using AI. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data Collection

• No Data Collection: Write Buddy does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
• Local Storage Only: Your OpenAI API key is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's sync storage. It is never sent to our servers.
• No Analytics: We do not track your usage, collect analytics, or monitor your activity.

API Key Storage

• Your OpenAI API key is stored locally in your Chrome browser
• The key is stored using Chrome's chrome.storage.sync API
• The key is never sent to our servers or any third-party servers (except OpenAI when you use the extension)
• Only you have access to your API key

API Usage

• When you use Write Buddy, your selected text is sent directly to OpenAI's API
• This communication happens directly between your browser and OpenAI
• We do not intercept, store, or log this data
• OpenAI's privacy policy applies to data sent to their API: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy

Permissions

Write Buddy requires the following permissions:

• storage: To store your API key locally
• activeTab: To access text you select on web pages
• contextMenus: To provide right-click menu options (if used)
• https://api.openai.com/*: To communicate with OpenAI's API

Third-Party Services

• OpenAI API: Write Buddy uses OpenAI's API to rewrite text. Your use of OpenAI's services is subject to their terms and privacy policy.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date.

Your Rights
